Host Your Own Fundraiser

Looking for a way for your business or organization to make an impact? Hosting your own event is a fantastic way to help Blessing House and get your community or colleagues involved! Here are some examples but we would love to hear your new ideas.

  • A sporting activity like a 5k walk/run, or a tournament-style event.

  • A donation drive. Please check with the Shelter Manager to see what sort of items we need 440-240-1851

  • A sale event where you donate a certain percentage of proceeds to Blessing House.

Contact us so that we can team up with you on a fundraising initiative, or to name Blessing House the benefactor of your philanthropic efforts.

Requirements to work directly with children

Currently, we are unable to accommodate volunteers caring directly for children. To do this work we need caretakers to be legal part-time employees of Blessing House and we encourage you to apply. With licensing and legal limitations, it is very complicated to have outsiders with our children who often come from sensitive situations. Volunteers also do not count towards our staffing needs and are required to be supervised which takes time and attention away from our children. However, we are always looking for people interested in scheduled part-time employment. This provides the legal and training protections that will allow you to truly make the difference you want to with our children at Blessing House.

How you CAN work directly in childcare:

  1. Please email us or call Blessing House to request a part-time employment application.

  2. Once we have had a chance to discuss the position with you, we will ask you to come in for an interview and to obtain the necessary paperwork. Our state licensing requires personal references, a background check, a physical, and permission to perform other public records checks.

  3. Once the screening requirements are met, training is scheduled.

    • This position requires 20+ hours of initial training with additional yearly training requirements. This training includes CPR and First Aid and is provided by Blessing House in our facility.

    • Training, certifications, background checks and the time it takes to do all of this are at Blessing House’s expense, so we ask that applicants be serious about being a part of our family.
