One way to make a contribution to Blessing House is through a Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA.
From IRS.gov:
What is a qualified charitable distribution?
Can a qualified charitable distribution satisfy my required minimum distribution from an IRA?
Yes, your qualified charitable distributions can satisfy all or part the amount of your required minimum distribution from your IRA. For example, if your 2014 required minimum distribution was $10,000, and you made a $5,000 qualified charitable distribution for 2014, you would have had to withdraw another $5,000 to satisfy your 2014 required minimum distribution.

Recently, United Way kicked off their annual campaign to raise funds to support community needs. Individuals and businesses will be making commitments during the coming months to support the collaborative efforts of non-profits, schools and agencies in Lorain County that are working together to support goals targeting education, health and the financial stability of low income working families.
As you make your decision to support community programs, please know that you also have the ability to donate to other agencies that are part of collaborative efforts outside of the United Way umbrella. These non-profit agencies also network in the community with each other to work together for the common good of the people we serve addressing issues of homelessness, substance abuse and domestic violence among others.
You can help support these agencies through your United Way donation. When making your contribution or pledge to United Way, you can designate an agency you would like to receive your contribution. This designation can be to any non-profit in Lorain County.
Last year, 159 children whose families needed help because of issues that created emergencies received care at Blessing House. We remain committed to our mission of providing safe care for children and support for families, connecting those who need help with those who can help.
Blessing House is part of a safety net for children at risk, with agencies, counselors, caseworkers and support programs working together to help families address their issues. We encourage you to consider designating Blessing House to receive your United Way contribution when you fill out your pledge card or form this year.
Please feel free to call us with any quesitons you may have.
