Compassionate Childcare Assistant
Blessing House serves as a safety net for families in crisis by providing a safe shelter for children and support for their families. Children stay with us for a short time while their parents/caregivers address their situations.

Requirements
Must have a High School Diploma or GED (Required by state licensing)
Must be at least 21 years old (Required by state licensing)
Must be able to pass a background check
Must pass an employment physical verifying ability to safely care for children (infants through age 12)
Experience:
Have a significant history of working with children in a personal, professional, or volunteer capacity
Professional skills:
Must be able to read instructions and job-related documents
Must be able to write and document notes regarding shift activities
Good organizational skills – can multi-task, making decisions and managing several issues simultaneously
Must have the ability to be flexible, make decisions quickly, and anticipate needs
Personal skills:
Loves caring for children
Enjoys interacting with children
Compassionate and a willingness to listen
Willingness to care for children who may be experiencing trauma or developmental issues
A desire to contribute to a supportive team environment
Has a kind, outgoing disposition and the ability to relate to individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences
Physical requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds safely.
Must be able to safely engage and supervise children in outdoor and indoor play activities
Requires extended periods of standing and walking.
Areas of Responsibility
Care of children (Duties vary on each shift)
Planning and engaging in enriching activities (Indoors and outdoors)
Providing a safe environment and monitoring behavior
Documenting children’s activities and behaviors
Assisting with the personal needs of the children
Providing assistance with homework
Communications with parents as directed by administrative staff
Follows a set daily schedule
Completes annual training requirements
Available Shifts
First Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Second Shift: 3:00 PM to 11:15 PM
Third Shift: 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Weekend availability is required for first and second shift.
We schedule our staff using a fixed 2 week rotating schedule that allows you to know when you are scheduled to work. If you are interested in working strictly as PRN, please contact us.
20 hours of training, including CPR and First Aid, are provided once the initial requirements are met and screening is completed. This training takes place at Blessing House during weekday work hours.
